TWENTY-TWO FAMILIES ATTEND COMMUNITY BABY SHOWER

The Third Community Baby Shower was held Saturday, May 14th at Calhoun Middle-High School sponsored by the Calhoun County Family Resource Network.

Twenty-two families were given the opportunity to view several displays from organizations including, Minnie Hamilton Health System, Calhoun Family Resource Network, Minnie's Rainbow Day Care, Project Linus, Calhoun County Library, Mid-Ohio Valley Health Department, WIC, Domestic Abuse Response Team, Unicare, Donna Richards, Community Dental Health, and West Virginia Birth to Three.


Stella Moon (left) RESA 5 Adolescent Health Coordinator, spoke to the group about "Brain Under Construction" and the importance of working with your child. The "Brain Under Construction Zone SM" was created to increase family and caregiver awareness and understanding of the impact of the first five years of a child's life in every area of development.

Toni Tiano, from the Mid-Ohio Valley Regional Highway Safety Program, and Burl Simers, certified car seat technician, checked car seats and provided free car seats for new mothers in need.
