COMMISSION CANVASSES PRIMARY ELECTION - Little Difference In Vote Count

Commissioner Larry McCallister (L) and David Barr (R) canvass ballots The Calhoun Commission met yesterday morning for about three hours to canvass votes from Tuesday's primary election. Twenty-six challenged ballots made little difference in voter outcome. One precinct was hand-counted to validate the optical scanner, which is used to tabulate the ballots. Commission candidate Rick Sampson (L) and Circuit Clerk Shelia Garretson (R) observe process The Commission will meet Tuesday, May 21, at 5 p.m. to certify the election.
