The Creston area continues to receive rain but, thankfully, no flooding. From national news reports it would seem that the "experts" with the Junior Dam Builders (Army Corps of Engineers) likely caused more harm and damage than if nothing had ever been done to alleviate flooding. One might wonder if those who were flooded when the dikes were blown up will get paid damages whether or not they had the government flood insurance.

Gary Buchanan & Chancy Shaw laid out the plans for the new playground equipment that came to the Creston Community Building. Work is scheduled between "showers". Some of the women cleaned the inside of the building but then some of the menfolks overlooked their work. The women also rearranged the furniture which wasn't noticed by some of the men either.

Local residents participated in the State primary election which will be between Loganite Earl Ray, the choice of the "Powers that Be", and Bill Maloney a Morgantown businessman with no prior political experience but is well known for his involvement in the rescue of the miners trapped thousands of feet underground in Chile. Obviously those who are improperly getting a piece of the pie will vehemently oppose "new blood" that does not owe the establishment a dime.

Speaking of politics, Mr. Newt said he was running for president but then the pictures of him sitting with Mrs. Pelosi promoting Al Gore's global warming and cap & trade (cap & tax) came back up to remind everyone that he is a "has been" and now, thanks to some warming, not likely global, he is cooked Newt.

Some local residents acquired a virus from e-mails that were said to come from someone but which actually came from elsewhere -- who knows where.

The state road crew has been mowing berms in anticipation of folks being in for Decoration Day. The peonies that one would use to decorate the grave are already in bloom.

The Ten Finger Pickup Crew has been busy in the local area. Gentlemen in a white F-150 were "just looking around" at a home where the residents were temporarily gone and then, just down the road a large 400 lb gas meter jumped into someone's chariot. Some local folks have stated, "If they want to collect metal, send them on and they can acquire some lead; it's way heavier than iron."

One Little Creek resident acquired some new haymaking equipment but while some hay is ready to cut most fields are so wet the grass could only be cut with scythes, which, it seems are not in style. Several local residents have their gardens worked up and some things planted. Those with an "entitlement mentality" apparently are content to sit around and expect to be fed by taxpayers who work to give them food stamps. While the "experts" said social security was forever solvent, they now admit that it is in the red (paying out more than is being paid in in FICA taxes) and will be so for a very long time. The so-called trust fund was spent decades ago and now there are IOUs which likely rate lower than the loans held by the communist Chinese government, the Arab oil tycoons, etc.

Conflicting details continue to come out about the demise of Osama including a report that a Paki turned him in for $$ and that Valerie Jarrett woudn't let the Big Eared one "close the deal". Only insistence from the CIA, Madame Hillary & the armed forces forced the Won's hand with the caveat that if it went down wrong the CIA would take all the blame.

It was learned that Huey & David Dale were planning to purchase Triad's wells & leases on Ambler Ridge in Roane County but that the deal fell through. The area has been a water flood since the 1950s (secondary oil recovery). The Dales recently made the news with their drilling program in Boone County.

Jodie Goff & Teresa from Panhandle were calling on Charles Russell. Charles was also attending to business in Spencer & visiting with his brother Euell.

William R. Villers, age 71, of Spencer passed away. He was a son of George "Pappy" & Mildred Greathouse Villers. Burial is to be at Pine Twist.

Tom Bell's comely daughter was attending to business in Creston & Spencer and visiting with relatives including Mr. & Mrs. Garry Anderson.

Gay Park has been suffering from the punies but she was able to make it out to vote.

Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. church. Also it was reported that someone is holding services Friday evenings at the Creston church.

Some local residents received letters with a return address in Pineville (Wyoming County) indicating that they wanted to buy oil and gas rights. A computer search found that the principal was really based in Weatherford Texas.

Equitable Gas Company, now called EQT is holding " a listening meeting" Monday, May 23 from 5 P. M. to 7 P. M. at the Doddridge County Fairgrounds located on Snowbird Road, Route 18 South. For those not familiar with the area there are well marked signs at Smithburg. EQT holds many very old leases and they want folks to sign new ones, taking away free gas and granting the Pittsburgh based firm a "blank check" to do whatever they want and pay what they see fit as royalty.

The price of local Pennsylvania grade crude rose 75 cents/bbl. to $93.75.
