Steven Clair Miller, 63 - Elizabeth

Steven Clair Miller, 63, of Elizabeth, died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 in the Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born January 9, 1948 at Spencer, a son of the late Clair Miller and the late Vera Starcher Miller Blake. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sandy Nichols Miller; brother, David Miller; and father-in-law, Waldo Nichols; dog, Pepper Joe, who had been with him 13 years and helped him through major heart surgery and an amputation.

Steven was a retired recreation director at the Spencer Hospital. Also, he was a former employee of Tally Oil Field Services and Ashley's Recycling. He was a graduate of Spencer High School and a member of the NRA.

Survivors include sons, Blake Camden Miller of Elizabeth, Casey Lee Miller and fiancée, Megan Loren Smith of Elizabeth, and Dakota Shane Miller of Creston; children, Lisa Miller, Lora Miller and David Miller all of Illinois; one grandson, Dereck; sister, Emeline Guess of Reedy; niece, Vera Mandell; mother-in-law, Billie Nichols of Spencer; several great nieces and nephews; many friends he loved and adored as his extended family, Danny and Barbara Walker, Gary and Delores Hensley, Mitch, Mikal and Ashton Lockhart, Estus Barker, Larry Ferrell and Carolyn Reed; two dogs, Levi and Bailey.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 14 at 4:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Roger McCroskey officiating. Friends may call from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
