SPEEDY MART ARMED ROBBER INDICTED - Grand Jury Returns Four Other Indictments

(05/17/2002)
The suspect wanted in the armed robbery of Arnoldsburg's Speedy Mart was indicted this week by a Calhoun Grand Jury. Brian Michael Farabaugh, 18, of Pennsylvania, is also being prosecuted for other offenses in Pennsylvania and Tennessee.

The charge is aggravated robbery, one count.

Farabaugh held a gun to a Speedy Mart employee in the early morning hours of December 30, 2002, taking about $300. The man had stolen a Geo Tracker earlier in the evening from a Jackson County business and obtained gas at a Spencer Go-Mart, driving away without paying.

He was caught the following day near Jackson, Tennessee after he fired shots at police officers. A dozen police cruisers chased Farabaugh across three counties on I-40, using road spikes to stop his vehicle.

Farabaugh, in what was perceived as a suicide attempt, then fired a shot into his chin and face.

The Grand Jury indicted four other individuals:

Lewis Scott Whited, DUI 3rd offense, one count.

Jaden Z. Beall, grand larceny, one count; breaking and entering an auto, one count; entering without breaking an auto, one count.

Delbert King, malicious assault, one count.

Calvin Lee Ferrell, sexual assault in the second degree, 20 counts.
