BOATER EDUCATION COURSE SATURDAY IN GRANTSVILLE

The WV Division of Natural Resources will hold a Boater Education Course in Calhoun County at the Grantsville Volunteer Fire Dept. on Saturday from 5 to 8 p.m.

Students must be at least 11 years of age to be certified. The course is open to the public and is free of charge.

The 2000 West Virginia Legislature passed a mandatory boating education law that became effective January 1. 2001. The law requires that any person born after December 31, 1986 must successfully complete a boating education course and receive a certification card to operate a motorboat on the waters of the State.

Personal watercraft and electric powered boats are classified as motorboats therefore the Boating Education certification will also be required to operate these vessels.
