Virginia Shamblin, 88 - Grafton, Ohio

Virginia R. McAllister Shamblin, 88, passed away on May 7, 2011, at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital in Weston, West Virginia. She was born April 18, 1923, in Walgrove, W.Va., a daughter of the late Linzy Pearl McAllister and Blanche Burgess McAllister. She and her beloved husband of 49 years, Eugene H. Shamblin, who passed away in 1992, made their home in Grafton, Ohio, for many years and upon his death she returned to West Virginia. She enjoyed reading and reciting poetry. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and John Ashley of Reedy WV; sons and daughters-in-law, Bruce and Sharon Shamblin of Big Springs WV, Jeffery and Michelle Shamblin of Macedonia OH, Philip and Bonnie Shamblin of Rural Retreat WV, and Anthony and Peggy Shamblin of Wakeman OH; brother, Philip McAllister of Clendenin WV; 15 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Lois Harbour of Clendenin, Kathleen Young of Galveston TX, Alberta Clark of New Martinsville WV, and Emma Coleman of Nitro WV. As per her wishes, a memorial service and double interment will be held at Shamblin Cemetery in Clendenin at a later date. Taylor-Vandale Funeral Home, Spencer, WV, is in charge of arrangements for the Shamblin family.
