LAURA BELL GAINER - Former Teacher-Librarian Passes

A former Calhoun and Roane teacher and librarian, Laura Bell Gainer, of Parkersburg has died at 69. Gainer was a graduate of Glenville High School and Glenville State College, and was a well-known musician. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Alvin Phillips, nephews, Adam, who lives in Charlotte, N.C., and Aaron and his wife, Lindley, who live in El Cerrito, Calif. She was a daughter of Oscar and Laura Woofter Gainer. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, Parkersburg, with the Rev. David Carpenter and Pastor Robert Holland officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Liberty Cemetery in Tanner. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
