Walter Harper, 94 - Walton

Walter Harper, 94, of Walton, West Virginia, died Friday, April 22, 2011, in the Miletree Center, Spencer WV, after an extended illness. He was born April 30, 1916, at Cicerone, a son of the late Joseph Marshall and Emma Jones Harper. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, seven sisters and one brother. Mr. Harper was a retired heavy equipment operator. He was a member of the Operating Engineers and the NRA. In his spare time, he enjoyed raising, riding and trading horses. Survivors include one daughter, Janet Davis of Spencer; one son, James M. Harper of Lakin WV; six grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 26 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Burial will be in the Gandeeville Cemetery, Gandeeville WV. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
