An illegal, anonymous mailing to about 4,000 Roane County households has endorsed
selected candidates for the Democratic Executive Committee. Don Yoak, a candidate
for the executive committee, complained to the Secretary of State's office about the
slate. He was not endorsed.
The back of the postcard said "Let's improve our Democratic Party in Roane County,"
indicating those on the slate were running as a team.
Jan Casto, who handles complaints for the Secretary of State's office, said the first
step is to find out who did it.
The postage meter used to mail the cards was issued to Delegate Mark Hunt-D of
Kanawha. Yoak said that doesn't mean he was the person behind the illegal
mailing.
The incident will be investigated.
