April "Renee" Allen, 43 - Spencer

April "Renee" Allen, 43, of Spencer, West Virginia, passed away April 6, 2011, in the Kobacker Hospice House, Columbus, Ohio. She battled cancer for over 30 years. Renee was an inspiration to those who knew her because of her giving and loving heart and the manner in which she lived with her disease.

Renee was born April 28, 1967 at Spencer, a daughter of Franklin and Ruth Boggs Allen of Spencer.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by two sisters, Barbara Shaulis (Barry) of Parkersburg WV and Brenda Chichester (Rick) of Hendersonville TN; also, Uncle Charles Allen and Aunt Marie Wilson. She was a loving aunt to Todd Shaulis, Amy Frame (Greg), Nathan Chichester (Angela) and Natasha Chichester. Also surviving are cousins, Kay Anderson, Jimmy Boggs, Debbie Rowe, Annette Ellison, Sherrill Tolley and Tim Wilson; and her cat, Squirt.

She was a very active member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Wetzel Chapter No. 27 of Spencer for 26 years. She served as Worthy Matron several times. She also served as Grand Marshal and Grand Representative of New Hampshire. Renee was a member and officer of the Friends of the Library, a member of the Roane General Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the St. John's United Methodist Church, Spencer.

Renee was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Nathan and Mattie Boggs; and paternal grandparents, Harry and Evelyn Allen.

A funeral service will be held Sunday, April 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Brother Bill Walton officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover. Friends may call Saturday from 6-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, where an Eastern Star memorial service will be conducted at 7:30 p.m., by O.E.S. Cherish Your Dreams Grand Family, of which Renee was a member.
