Janet Anne Lilly, 85 - Glenville

Janet Anne Lilly age 85 of Lilly Pond Lane, Glenville, West Virginia, departed this life at 3:45 p.m. Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital, Weston following an extended illness.

She was born October 31, 1925 in Gilmer County the daughter of the late Dr. Herbert F. and Janet Duff Withers.

After graduation in 1943 from Glenville High School she earned her BS degree from Columbia University School of Nursing in 1947. Upon graduation she worked at Presbyterian Hospital in New York as a registered nurse. She was later employed by Gilmer County Board of Education as County Nurse for Gilmer County Schools and later for Gilmer County Early Childhood Development until she retired. She was well known for her beautiful flower gardens, her love of reading and was a life member of the Glenville Presbyterian Church.

On August 4, 1951 she was united in marriage to Jesse R. Lilly who preceded her in death September 29, 1999.

She is survived by three sons, Thomas S. "Tom" Lilly (Sue) of Martinsburg WV; John R. Lilly (Susan) of Glenville and William W. "Bill" Lilly (Jenny) of Buckhannon WV; five grandchildren, Jacob and wife Bailey Lilly of Morgantown WV; Abby Lilly of Morgantown; Maggie Lilly of Glenville, Dawson and Landon Lilly of Buckhannon; one sister, Catherine Aker of Dallas TX and caregiver and special friend Sharon Clutter of Normantown WV.

In addition to her parents and husband Mrs. Lilly was preceded in death by one brother, Dr. H. Scott Withers on March 8th of 2011.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate "Janet Anne's" life May 28, 2011 at Glenville Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Eric Glisan officiating. Family and friends may call from 10-11 the day of services at the Church to visit and reminisce about Janet's life.

The family requests in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the Jesse R. Lilly Scholarship Fund, c/o GSC Foundation, 200 High Street, Glenville, WV 26351.
