MINNIE HAMILTON NOW HAS A CERTIFIED WOUND CARE ASSOCIATE

(04/05/2011)
Minnie Hamilton Health Care System is pleased to announce that Melissa Dennison, LPN, is now a Certified Wound Care Associate. Melissa recently (pictured left) received her certification after completing an advanced on-line study course and examination provided through the American Academy of Wound Management.

Melissa has been employed at Minnie Hamilton Health System for five years. She has worked in a Long Term Care setting for the past eight years. She is a staff nurse, the restorative nursing program coordinator and assists with the medical records of the unit.

Nelda Gill, RN, Director of Nursing of the Long Term Care Unit states "I am very excited and appreciative of Melissa's accomplishment. I have already seen good results with the wound healing techniques suggested by Melissa." Nelda feels Melissa's knowledge of the appropriate types of treatments and frequency of which the dressings need changed will not only promote better healing of the wound but will also be helpful in managing the cost of wound care for the facility.

Melissa is eager to be able to share her knowledge and assist in all areas of the hospital. She has already provided an excellent wound care in-service for the staff on the Long Term Care Unit.
