CMS STUDENTS WILL COMPETE AT STATE SOCIAL STUDIES FAIR

Congratulations to 5th grade student Trenten Cunningham, 6th grade student Christopher Kirkland and 8th grade student Kensy Bailey who will be heading to the West Virginia State Social Studies Fair at the Charleston Civic Center on April 29.

These students won first place at the RESA 5's Regional Social Studies Fair, held on March 25 at Blennerhassett Elementary school in Parkersburg. Calhoun Students competed against students from Ritchie, Roane, Tyler, Pleasants, Wirt and Wood Counties.

In all, 40 Calhoun students, representing 30 projects, competed at the regional fair. All students had previously competed at the county level and had earned a first place finish in their respective categories. This included students from Calhoun Middle School, as well as both Arnoldsburg and Pleasant Hill Elementary Schools.

Sixteen Calhoun students came away with medals at the Regional Social Studies Fair.

First place, Trenten Cunningham, Christopher Kirkland, and Kensy Bailey; 2nd place, Aleah Dye, Makayla Smith, and Alexis Webb; 3rd place, Autumn Cunningham, Taylor Garrett, Darla Harrison, and Alexis Phillips; Honorable mention, Kimberly Bradley, Emily Felter, Josey Manns, Rebekah Peck, Holly Rose, and Alyssa Verbus.

Other students participating were, Victoria Allen, Tea Boatright, Amanda Boothe, Matthew Boothe, Miranda Farmer, Lillie Farson, Brennen Ferrell, Daniel Hall, Cortney Hannah, Jocelynn Heiney, Haley Holcomb, Kaylee Jarvis, David Marks, Selena McCoy, Caroline McCumbers, Mitchell McKown, Elijah Melrath, Morgan Moneypenny, Haley Murphy, Echo Richards, Hayden Richards, Bree Schoolcraft, Samantha Shamlin, and Mikayla Toney.

Congratulations to all these students who did an outstanding job representing Calhoun Schools.
