Calhoun High School senior choir member Katie Collins and sophomore member Heather Bradley have been selected to the 2011 West Virginia Educator All-State Chorus. This is Katie's third All State appearance and Heather's first.

Students from schools all over the state auditioned within their respective region. Katie and Heather had to learn five songs selected by All-State Chorus guest conductor, Matthew Mehaffey, Associate Professor of Music at the University of Minnesota.

The repertoire for the 2011 West Virginia Educator All-State Chorus includes Musicks Empire, Super Flamina Babilonis, Famine Song, The Making of the Drum, and Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal. The chorus will rehearse and perform March 24-26 at Marshall University in Huntington.

A public performance will be held Saturday, March 26 at 2:00 p.m. It is a great honor to be chosen to be part of the All-State Chorus, often resulting in a larger scholarship for students.
