Three Calhoun 4th graders recently competed in the 35th annual Region V Math Field Day at WVU-P.

A county-wide written test determines the 3 participants and the alternates.

The math event is made up of 4 areas: math basics (written), mental math exact, mental math estimation, and physical estimation. In the weeks preceding the event the students practice their skills in each of the 4 areas.

At positions 1 and 2 were Erica Riggs and Ryan Milliron of Pleasant Hill Elementary and at 2 was Treavor Carder of Arnoldsburg Elementary. Alternates were Nolan Nelson (Arnoldsburg) and Jimmy Parsons (Pleasant Hill).

All of the students worked very hard to prepare and are to be congratulated for their participation in this special event.
