SUSPECT AND POLICE DOG DIE IN LINCOLN SHOOT-OUT - Lincoln County Sheriff Jerry Bowman says a suspect and a department police dog have been killed in a stand-off Friday evening.

Bowman is saying the incident started when a deputy responded to a call about shots being fired.

When the deputy arrived on the scene, the man reportedly threatened the officer with a gun.

Bowman said the deputy tried to talk the man out of the house, but he came out shooting at the police and officers returned gunfire.

When other officers responded with a K-9 officer, the sheriff says the man shot and killed the police dog.

Bowman says the man was killed when officers returned fire, after which the house caught on fire, the cause unknown.

MAN SHOOTS AT WITNESS - A Kanawha Co. man is behind bars, accused of breaking into cars and firing a gun at a witness.

The incident happened about 3 a.m. Saturday in Nitro, after 911 received numerous calls.

Police say Allan Belcher, II was arrested after witnesses reportedly saw him breaking into cars.

They say Belcher fired a shot at a man who confronted him and then took off.

Police found Belcher hiding in a creek behind an apartment complex. He has been charged with wanton endangerment.

MILKMAN GETS HELD UP - A Broughton employee delivering milk to Jefferson Elementary Center in Parkersburg was robbed by a man brandishing a gun.

Police say Clifford Buckley, 53, was delivering crates of milk to the school around 3 a.m. Wednesday when the hold-up happened.

He was approached by a white male with a bandanna covering his face and pointing a handgun with a red laser light.

The man ordered Buckley to the ground and took his wallet before fleeing the scene.

Parkersburg police say it happened in an area "where you really need to watch your surroundings."

PARKERSBURG STABBING - Jesse Carpenter is behind bars Friday after stabbing another man in the shoulder, according to the Wood County Sheriff's Department.

Carpenter allegedly showed up at his estranged girlfriend's residence.

Police said Carpenter then threatened to break down the door, so his girlfriend let him in.

When Carpenter found another male in the home, he grabbed a knife and stabbed Tyler Hartness in the left shoulder, police said.

Hartness was taken to Camden Clark Medical Center.
