Ames True Temper jobs in Parkersburg are going "mainly to China," according to
union rep Randy Moore, United Steel Workers of America.
He said labor is very cheap in foreign countries and there are few benefit packages.
Plant #2 is closing the first of June, with a loss of 180 workers, many of them from the
region.
Most company watchers think the company will close all operations in Parkersburg.
About 250 workers are employed at Plant #1.
Ames True Temper operates 29 plants.
