West Virginians are used to getting on the worst lists.

A new Gallup Healthways survey says the least happy state in America is West Virginia.

How can that be, when the state is "Almost Heaven."

Hawaii is number one in happy people survey, with the sea, the sand, the surf and lots of sunshine.

The Gallup Healthways report says West Virginia has the lowest well-being index at 61.7.

"I think West Virginians by and large are very happy people, humble people. We seem to have a good time when we get together. I'm just a little disillusioned by that," says Jim Strawn, a member of the Optimist Club of Charleston.

The index is based on each state's life evaluation, emotional health and physical health.

Maybe we're the least happy state because all the research and polls put us in or at the bottom of the barrel.
