Marie Young, 97 - Elizabeth

Marie Young 97, of Elizabeth, West Virginia, passed away March 9, 2011 at Parkersburg Care and Rehabilitation.

She was born in Wirt County October 23, 1913 the daughter of the late Carlos and Glenna Watson.

Marie was an amazing lady who dedicated her life to her family and a number of organizations, she was a substitute cook for Wirt County Schools, a member of the Elizabeth United Methodist Church, Mary Elizabeth Circle, Wirt County Homemakers CEOS of Elizabeth, lifetime member of the Farm Bureau, Southern States Association, and a lifetime member of the Wirt County Fair. Was the Belle of Wirt County in 1984 and during the 20th Vandalia Gathering in Charleston, WV was honored for creating the "Block Quilt of Wirt County " for the 1996 West Virginia Quilt Show.

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara Jones and her husband Ted of Parkersburg WV; 4 grandchildren, Pamela Clevenger and her husband Dan of Washington WV; Terry Crislip and his wife Pamala, Joe Crislip and his wife Diana, and Luann Ayers and her husband Mike all of Parkersburg WV; 2 step grandchildren, Todd Jones his wife Cheryl of Dalzell SC and Betsy Utt and her husband Scott of Parkersburg; 8 great grandchildren, Aimee Morrison, Julie Davis, Chad Crislip, Bryan Crislip, Meredith Crislip, Allison Crislip, Kyle Ayers, and Kayla Ayers; several great-great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Gladys Watson and Imogene Watson both of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Young; 4 brothers, Dock, Rex, Julius and Melvin Watson; 3 sisters, Bea Fought, Alma Fought, and Maggie Goodwin.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday March 14 at Matheny Whited Funeral Home of Elizabeth with Rev. Lee Williams and Pastor Mark Houser officiating. Visitation will be Sunday March 13 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Interment will be at K of P Cemetery of Elizabeth.
