The Calhoun County Park has received a boost to make improvements for needed road repairs, according to Danny Law and Robert Bonar, local board members on the Little Kanawha Parkway Authority.

The $15,000 contribution will be used on the park's roadways, with work expected to begin as soon as weather permits.

The Little Kanawha Parkway Authority is charged by the WV Legislature with a mission of promoting a modern highway system, recreation and tourism throughout the Little Kanawha River valley.

The LK Parkway board consists of representatives from Braxton, Gilmer, Calhoun, Wirt and Wood Counties.

Wirt County has also secured funding for the paving of it's City Park in Elizabeth.

Various projects in the other counties are in the process of being approved over the next several months.

Park board president Henry Cooper expressed his boards sincere gratitude in receiving the much needed funds.
