Vernie Bell Rowan, 90, of Gandeeville, West Virginia, died Friday, February 11, 2011, at Roane General Hospital, Spencer.

She was born January 11, 1921, at Spencer, a daughter of the late James and Laura Parsons Greathouse.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Burton Rowan. She was a homemaker, mother, and grandmother.

Surviving relatives include four daughters, Lora Hendricks and her husband, Carl, of Gandeeville, Margaret Jean Walker of Elyria OH, Faye Gibson and her husband, Jim, of Ripley WV, Brenda Sobitz and her husband, Tim of Oviedo FL; one son, William Everett Rowan and his wife, Carol of Barberton OH; brothers, William Greathouse of Spencer and Park Greathouse of Kenmore OH; sister, Doil Greathouse of Akron OH; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren.

There will be no funeral or visitation. Care was entrusted to the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer.
