If you use spit tobacco including snuff or chewing tobacco and would like to quit, "Save Face" can help.

Spit tobacco is not a safe alternative to cigarettes. It's deadly. You could face cancer, deformity, heart disease, tooth decay and death. In fact, thousands of spit tobacco users die from oral cancer every year.

Save Face is an educational campaign designed to decrease spit tobacco use in West Virginia and now offers classes to help you quit.

The first class in Roane County will be held at the Health Department in Spencer on Saturday, February 19 at 9:00 a.m. The class is free and food and drinks will be provided.

The Course is 7 weeks long meeting every Saturday, taking the class can double your chances of quitting spit tobacco. If you're interested call (304) 588-0225 or e-mail Mathiew.R.Richards@wv.gov to register.

Mathiew Richards has attended the Mayo Clinic's Tobacco Treatment Specialist training - a week long course highlighting nicotine dependence as a chronic disease, the neurobiology of addiction, motivational interviewing, focus groups, pharmacotherapy, treatment methods, relapse prevention and the building of individualized treatment plans.

Quitting tobacco is the single best thing you can do to improve and protect your health.
