Alva Abraham "Abe" Cosner, 76 - Burnsville

Alva Abraham "Abe" Cosner age 76 of Long Shoal Run Road, Burnsville, Braxton County, West Virginia, departed this life at 7:20 p.m., Friday, February 4, 2011 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown following an extended illness.

He was born July 8, 1934 in Braxton County a son of the late Adam and Margaret Watson Cosner.

A retired coal miner and Baptist by faith, "Abe" as he was known to his family and friends loved to hunt, fish and listen to bluegrass music.

On November 20, 1953 he was married to Margaret Nell Townsend Cosner who preceded him in death March 21, 1986.

Surviving are 5 children, Davis Cosner and wife Carolyn of Burnsville, Vickie Grier and husband Eric of Concord NC, Kim Weese and husband Les of Gassaway WV, Mike Cosner and wife Janell and Keith Cosner and wife Laura all of Burnsville; one brother and one sister, Fred Cosner and wife Marie of Burnsville and Mary Shaver of Glenville; 12 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

In addtion to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Heather Cosner; 3 brothers, Bill, John and George Cosner; 4 sisters, Jessie Carson, Violet Thayer, Ruth Cosner and Ann Dyer.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. Glenville at 12 noon Monday, February 7 with Rev. Bill Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in the Cosner Cemetery, Long Shoal Run Road, Burnsville.

Friends may call at the Mortuary from 10 a.m. to noon Monday morning.

Ellyson Mortuary, Inc. is assisting the family of Alva Cosner with arrangements.
