Leslie "Les" E. Byers, 67 - Parkersburg

Leslie "Les" E. Byers, 67, of Parkersburg, West Virginia, died Feb. 3, 2011, at St. Joseph's Hospital.

He was born April 5, 1943, in Parkersburg, a son of the late Ernest "Leck" and Mary V. (Runyon) Byers.

Les was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during the Vietnam era. He retired from Walker of Parkersburg, after 38 years as a Checker Supervisor, and was also the co-owner of Byers Lock & Key. He enjoyed working on computers for people and was Baptist by faith. In January, Les celebrated 21 years sobriety.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Lee Byers of Parkersburg; a step granddaughter, Julie Vineyard; five step great grandchildren, Victoria, Cole, Ross, Hayes and Zaine; a brother, Bob Byers (Jean) of Ripley; two nephews and six nieces.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Vicki McKinley of Arnoldsburg, and two brothers, William and Ken Byers.

Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Leavitt Funeral Home Parkersburg, with Pastor Bob Byers officiating. Burial will be at Parkersburg Memory Gardens. Military rites will be provided by American Legion Post 15, Parkersburg. Visitation will be Saturday 4-7 p.m.
