Charleston - A Roane County woman is suing Volkswagen after she claims a vehicle she purchased was defective.

On Aug. 3, 2010, Anitra Westfall purchased a 2007 Volkswagen Beetle from the defendant in the amount of $12,000, according to a complaint filed Jan. 20 in Kanawha Circuit Court.

Westfall claims after the purchase, she began to experience repeated nonconformities with the vehicle.

After a reasonable number of attempts, the manufacturer did not conform the vehicle to the warranty, nor replace the vehicle with a comparable vehicle that did conform to the warranty, according to the suit.

Westfall claims the defendant was negligent in its repair attempts to the vehicle, caused damage to the vehicle and lowered its monetary value.

Westfall is seeking revocation of acceptance and refund of the purchase price; damages for repair costs and damages for loss of use, annoyance or inconvenience. She is being represented by Michael L. Glasser.

The case has been assigned to Circuit Judge Tod J. Kaufman.
