HARRISVILLE ONE OF SEVEN TOWNS FOR VOTING TRYOUT - Ballots By Mail

(02/03/2011)
Harrisville is one of seven WV towns that will participate in a pilot program to test voting by mail.

Six of the towns, Bethany, Harrisville, Paw Paw, Ridgeley, Thurmond and West Hamlin, will limit mail voting to just early voting in municipal elections.

Morgantown will conduct its entire municipal election by mail. Every registered voter in the city will receive a ballot.

The pilot project was approved by state lawmakers in 2009.

Secretary of State Natalie Tennant says the process will be similar to absentee voting.

Voters will mark their ballots, place the ballot into two envelopes and then sign their names across the seal.

The ballots will then be returned election officials. The ballots will be counted with others cast on election day.
