Blaine King and Jake Settles visited on Sunday. We had coffee, chili, blueberry cobbler and a nice long visit. He hasn't been out much with the weather being the way it has been. The warmer weather lately and being able to get out and about is having him feeling good lately.

Bear the dog doesn't mind the cold and snow. He has been digging out moles and has been playfully tossing them in the air. I don't know if he eats them or not. He's still not fully grown and guards his deer head, drags it all over the place and also has plastic bottles chewed up all over. I'm really looking forward to cleaning that up! Hope he makes a good dog and kills snakes.

Spring fever is getting a hold of me lately and I've been reading about chickens lately and thinking about getting some for eggs this year. Things of interest to me is that there's difference in the color of the egg shell to what's inside.

I always like to get brown eggs but I'm not going to care much about that. A red spot in an eggs is just a blood spot and is perfectly OK to eat. Blood spots occur when the egg is forming and it is natural for them to occur.

You don't need a rooster in order for chickens to lay eggs. If you don't have a rooster, then one of your hens may take on a more aggressive and dominate role among the flock, similar to that of a roosters behavior.

I cut Doy Hannah's hair in coveralls last Sunday after the gas line episode. Doy said "I bet this is the first time you've ever done this". Indeed it was. I kept them on a long time that day until the house warmed up.

Everyone have a wonderful week!
