CHARLESTON POLICEMAN SHOT - A Charleston police officer was shot in the hand last week while serving a search warrant in St. Albans.

The shooting happened at a home where, just days before, residents were robbed by people claiming to be police officers.

The officer was a member of the Metro Drug Unit.

Capt. James Agee, acting chief of the St. Albans Police Department, said the officers were not in uniform, but were wearing vests and other items that clearly identified them as police.

Reports say they told the people inside the house that they were police, and the residents apparently did not believe them, Agee said.

Someone inside the home fired a gun through a closed door, striking one of the officers in the hand. The officer was treated and released.

The Charleston Gazette said after the shooting, the residents briefly barricaded themselves inside the house, prompting local police to call out their SWAT units. The residents soon emerged after demands from police.

CHARLESTON STABBING - Police responded to Charleston's West Side, where a stabbing was reported, last week.

Reports said one person was stabbed and another person was assaulted, authorities indicated alcohol was involved.

The man who was stabbed was able to walk away from the home, and was later taken to a hospital.

Police said the second man who was assaulted, was in worse condition and was taken to the hospital.

MORGANTOWN WOMAN ROBBED - A Morgantown woman claims she was robbed by a man with a gun, Thursday night.
