UTILITY BILL AND WEATHERIZATION ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has announced the release of $200 million in emergency contingency funding to help eligible low-income homeowners and renters pay heating and home energy costs through the LIHEAP program.

These funds are designed to provide utility bill payment assistance, energy crisis assistance, and weatherization and energy-related home repairs.

Individuals interested in applying for energy assistance should contact the West Virginia LIHEAP agency toll-free at 800-642-8589, and also may obtain further information on-line at LIHEAP or download a brochure

Calhoun County Senior citizens desiring assistance in obtaining information about the program may contact Rick Poling, Executive Director of the Calhoun County Committee on Aging at 304-354-7017, or pick up information at the Grantsville Senior Center.
