Welcome back to Beason. I appreciate you folks stopping by "our place".

First, we would like to offer our sincerest sympathies to the Backus and French families. We are so sorry to hear of the loss of your loved ones. Please let the "Beason Family" know if there is anything we can do to help you through your time of need. We will definitely keep you close in our hearts.

I would like to thank the DOH for taking such good care of our road these past few weeks. It has been a much less treacherous drive just from my house to the end of the road. For the last several years, I have dreaded just coming off my hill. So, we thank you so much for taking care of us.

I took the kids to see Yogi Bear 3D at the Grand Central Mall. The movie was terrific even for adults. But, then again, this adult is very easily entertained. If you go in the afternoon, ticket prices are slightly less than an evening show. Plus, one gets these awesome 3D Wayfarer glasses to wear during the movie. However, they want their glasses to be given back after the show. Are you kidding me? I paid $32 dollars to watch the movie and you want me to give back some cheap 3D glasses? Sorry, no can do. As far as am I concerned, those glasses were a parting gift in exchange for the hideous cost of food. Not to mention, Avery and I had a total blast with them on the way home from Parkersburg. He's a lot like me, easily entertained.

Our kittens and our dog have finally learned to get along. I was a little worried at first because our dog, Rock, has not had the best influence for proper behavior around cats. There had been dog around here before that chose to have cats for lunch. That dog has died, so, I have been able to break Rock of that kind of behavior. Now, Rock hangs out with the cats and has just given up on harassing them. It's kind of funny because Rock will even let the cats drink out of his bowl or lay right beside him. I think Rock realizes he is outnumbered and will be on the losing end if he causes any problems.

The kids and I have had a lot of fun sledding during the snow days. We tried out our new sleds and snowboards we got for Christmas. They are all excellent in the fun department and above average in the near death experience department. Ethan chose to put cooking oil on the bottom of his (idea courtesy of Clark Griswold) and flew down our driveway almost setting a land speed record. However, I do not advise this to non-professional sledders (like us).

In closing, I would like to say that in 2011, we need to remember that we all make mistakes. No one is exempt from that rule. No one should be made to feel inferior because of it. It's not the time for a put down, but for a hand up. With that being said, I am including the following quote in my article. I hope you take the time to read it and take it to your heart. "Forgiving seems almost unnatural. Our sense of fairness tells us people should pay for the wrong they do. But, forgiving, is love's power to break nature's rule." ~ Lewis B. Smedes.
