Kathryn P. Drake, 52 - Newton

Kathryn P. Drake, 52, of Newton, West Virginia, died January 20, 2011, at home, after a battle with cancer.

She was a wife, mother and grandmother, who had worked helping several different families in the Newton area. She loved riding motorcycles with her husband and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Drake; daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Shain Parsons of Sissonville WV, Melinda "Lynn" Bishop of North Charleston WV, Heather and Brian Hart of Lexington KY and Holly and Daniel Nidy of Clendenin WV; mother, Lena Hersman of Gandeeville WV; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and Kenny Larch of Spencer WV, Brenda Funk and Harry Sutton of Newton and Bonnie and Gary Cook of Left Hand WV; brother, Dencle "Sonny" Hersman of Newton; six grandchildren, Randy Parsons, Samantha Parsons, Madison Comer, Jayden Seabolt, Alex Nidy and Emily Nidy.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her father, Dencle "Bub" Hersman; brothers, Harvey Hersman, Earlus Ray Hersman; and sister, Jeneta Hersman.

A funeral service will be held Monday, January 24 at 1:00 p.m. in the John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with the Rev. Ronald Fisher and the Rev. Philip Linger officiating. Burial will be in the Clover Cemetery, Clover.

Friends may call Sunday after 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
