Pauline Garrett Jones, 97 - Sand Fork

Pauline Garrett Jones age 97 of Sand Fork, West Virginia, departed this life Thursday, January 20, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at her earthly home following an extended illness.

She was born May 18, 1913 in Gilmer County a daughter of the late Homer H. and Vera Spicer Garrett.

Pauline was a graduate of Sand Fork High School in 1925, and a graduate of Glenville Normal School, Glenville WV, with her teaching degree. She was a teacher at Van, Boon County for several years. Along with her husband Ray they were owners and operators of Ray A. Jones General Store, Sand Fork until their retirement. Serving the Sand Fork Community was a passion but her real love was being a dedicated mother and wife and working the store. She was a member for over 50 years of the Sand Fork Baptist Church having been baptized in 1958.

On October 25, 1935 she was married to Ray A. Jones who preceded her in death December 11, 1999.

Surviving are one son and one daughter, Robert Ray "Bob" Jones and wife Judy of Sand Fork and Mrs. Phillip "Lu Ann" Jones-Cunningham of Glenville; two grandchildren, Robert Ray Jones II and wife Katrina of Glenville and Christopher Jones Cunningham of Glenville; one great grandchild, Robert Ray Jones III of Weston WV; one sister, Lucille Jones of Parkersburg WV.

Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by 3 sisters, Mildred Furr, Drusilla Boggs and Eva Black.

Funeral services will be conducted at the Sand Fork Baptist Church, Sand Fork, Monday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Phil Wilson and Pastor Bryan Groves officiating. Burial will follow in the Sand Fork Cemetery, Sand Fork, WV.

Friends may call 4-8 p.m., Sunday at the Ellyson Mortuary, Inc., Glenville.
