A Wirt County manufacturing plant has secured a $6.5 million aviation research and development project. Mustang Survival has been given the production grant, according to an announcement yesterday by Congresswoman Shelley Moore Capito R-WV.

Mustang Survival, which builds life support devices, employees nearly 100 workers.The original company, which was launched by Calhoun businessman Shirley Fitzwater in 1978, was sold to the current owners in 1998.

Congresswoman Capito said the contract will help strengthen the company and secure the jobs in an area that has been hard hit.
