MAN SHOOTS WOMAN DELIVERING CHINESE FOOD - A Nitro man shot a woman delivering Chinese food to an apartment, police said.

Arthur Jackson Byrd III, 33, is charged with malicious wounding after he allegedly shot the woman in the back of her head with a 12-gauge shotgun around 9:30 p.m. Friday.

The criminal complaint lists the victim as Min Lin, who was delivering food to an apartment near Byrd's when she was shot.

"The woman's injuries are not believed to be life threatening," police said in the news release, adding that the motive is unclear.

Police said they found Byrd holding a gun in the parking lot of his apartment building, according to the criminal complaint.

He told police "he fired a shotgun at a person whom he believed to have forced entry into his home."

Byrd told police that earlier in the day, he had drunk beer, taken prescription narcotics and smoked marijuana laced with methamphetamines, the complaint said.

WOMAN SAYS SHE SHOT MAN IN SELF DEFENSE - A woman told police she shot a man in self-defense in a St. Albans apartment, Friday.

Dana Womack said she shot Roger Dale "Nick" Cobb after he was choking her on the ground, said the St. Albans Police Department.

Police found Cobb shot in the side near his kidney. Dana Womack and her mother Onda Womack were also at the apartment.

Dana Womack told authorities that she came to her mother's apartment to pick her up after her mother called saying she had a confrontation with Cobb, with whom she had a relationship, police said.

Dana Womack told police that Cobb became angry at her, got her on the ground and put his hands around her neck.

She said that while her mother was trying to pull Cobb off of her, she saw the gun under the couch, reached for it and shot him, the report said.

Cobb was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.

HURRICANE MAN STABBED - A Hurricane man said he was stabbed Saturday during a fight at a home in St. Albans.

Zachary Searls, 19, told St. Albans police he fled after he was injured. Police found him in the parking lot of St. Albans High School, according to a news release.

Searls described his attacker to the police, saying the incident may have been related to a previous altercation between Searls and the attacker's girlfriend.

He had a cut on his face near his lips that did not appear to be life threatening.

PIZZA PARLOR HEIST - Charleston police are looking for an armed man who robbed a Papa John's Pizza in North Charleston, Thursday.

Authorities said a man had black polish on his face, and used a black gun to hold-up workers.

He escaped with an unknown amount of cash.
