(12/28/2010)
CLERKS NIGHTMARE COMES TRUE - Every clerk's worst nightmare came true this week, with shots being fired at the Little General store in Beckley.

The incident happened in the store's parking lot and allegedly involved several males in a dark colored Chevy Suburban vehicle.

Beckley Police say Darnell Mitchell, 23, was shot once in the shoulder and taken to Raleigh General Hospital for treatment.

It is unclear what started the shooting. The Beckley City Police Department continues to investigate this incident.

UPSHUR MAN ARRESTED IN STABBING - A man is behind bars in Upshur County for allegedly stabbing another man in his stomach on Christmas night.

Upshur police have arrested and charged 32-year-old Kenneth Bennett with malicious wounding.

Officers say Bennett stabbed 34-year-old Chivano Dean in his stomach at The Starting Line in Buckhannon around 11:00 p.m. Saturday.

Dean underwent surgery at Ruby Memorial Hospital for his injuries.

Bennett is being held at the Tygart Valley Regional Jail on a $75 thousand dollar bond.

FARMINGTON ARMED ROBBERY - Police caught up with two men the same night they allegedly robbed Casey's Three in Farmington.

Joshua Hickman and Charles Lamp both face charges.

Officers say the men went into the business armed with a gun, demanded cash, then got away.

When police arrived on scene, the men fled into the woods and were picked up by someone driving another car.

Officers then followed them along I-79 until they could stop them at the Harrison, Marion County line.

Both men are charged with armed robbery, grand larceny, and conspiracy to commit a felony. Both are currently in the North Central Regional Jail.
