ELECTRONICS BANNED FROM WV LANDFILLS STARTING JAN. 1 - Calhoun's Cabot Recycling Will Fill The Gap

(12/30/2010)
A new ban on the disposal of electronic equipment in West Virginia landfills starts this weekend.

Calhoun's Cabot Recycling will fill the gap.

Starting Saturday, televisions, computers and electronic devices with video screens 4 inches and larger cannot be put in landfills.

The Legislature approved the ban during the 2010 session.

The state Solid Waste Management Board has been working since 2002 to divert electronic scrap from landfills through various collection efforts.

Cabot Recycling will accept electronics, excluding TV's, for which they request a $15 donation.

The center has to pay a fee for the disposal of TVs.
