Calhoun spotted Ritchie a 9-0 lead. It turned out to be a big mistake as the Rebels added to that and rolled to a 53-38 victory over the Red Devils Thursday night at Mount Zion.

Calhoun coach Danny Bunch said his team played poorly in the first half. It was, he said, enough to more than offset the good play the Red Devils had after intermission. Ritchie scored a 40-point, 75-35, victory over Calhoun earlier this year in the season opening game.

The Rebels were on top by 14 at the end of one quarter, 21-7, and only won by 15 which means Calhoun fought them on fairly even terms the rest of the way.

Tyler Bennet led the 0-6 Red Devils with 16 while Bronson Clark added 13.

Luke Moore, Mason Sheldon, David Villers and Trent Phillips added two each while Quentin "Q Dawg" Murphy chipped in with one. Jordan Panarello and Ricky Hall both played but did not score although Hall came up with five rebounds in a short stint in the fourth quarter.

Ritchie was led by Andrew Davis with 16.

Calhoun also lost the junior varsity game as the Rebels came away with a 53-26 win.

Hall led Calhoun with six points in that game while Derek Dawson added five, Phillips and Luke Moore two each while James Ball and Mason Sheldon had two each. "Double Oh" Joe Overbaugh, Doug Parsons, Cameron Corder and Zack "Hollywood" Thomas all played but did not score.

Calhoun is idle until it plays in the Clarksburg Notre Dame Holiday Tournament next week. The Red Devils will play Notre Dame in the opening round then will meet either Williamstown or Webster County in the second contest. There are no reserve games in the tournament.
