An ATV allegedly used by accused Calhoun bank robber Richard D. Vance, 22, was recovered Thursday by Grantsville WV State Police.

Authorities had been looking for the stolen ATV since Vance allegedly entered Calhoun Banks at Arnoldsburg in September and held it up with a hunting knife.

The bank robber and the ATV were both caught on the bank's surveillance video.

Vance was arrested in Texas following the incident, and is currently in Central Regional Jail, waiting action by a Calhoun grand jury.

Sgt. O. S. Starsick said the ATV was found in a wooded area adjacent to a pipeline right-of-way in the Grannyshe-Nicut area, about a mile from where Vance had been living at the time.

The location was not far from where the ATV was stolen.

Sgt. Starsick said the State Police's investigation is continuing.

"Other suspects are being looked at," he said.

Judge David W. Nibert has sentenced Vance to prison for violating his probation on a Roane County larceny charge, after the Orma resident fled to Texas.

He will serve 1-to-10 years in the state correctional system, with credit for days already served on that charge.

Vance told Roane County officials he had nothing to do with the bank robbery.
