Patricia Ann Pettit, 68 - Seaside, CA

(12/13/2010)
Patricia Ann Pettit, was born January 3, 1941, and passed away unexpectedly on December 3, 2010, in Seaside, Calif.

She was one of a kind, a wonderful lady, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Raised in Clendenin, W.Va., Pat met and married her sweetheart and soulmate, Jim K. Pettit. He was a sergeant in the Army when they settled in Seaside, California, in 1967 with their three children. For many years, Pat ran their local family surplus store until it closed. Their 52-year wedding anniversary is December 27, 2010.

She loved her family, pets, romance novels and crocheting. Pat crocheted blankets for nursing home residents and volunteered for the heart association. Her favorite activity was to watch her son and grandsons race cars.

Pat is survived by her husband, Jim K. Pettit; daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" (Bill) Nelson, and Tammy (John) Keldsen; son, Jim (Veronica) Pettit II; five grandchildren, Johnny "JJ" (Kayla) Keldsen, Billy (Erika) Nelson, Melissa (James) Haney, Chris Nelson, and Ashley Nelson; and six great grandchildren, Dustin, Laz, Gatlin, Jayden, Lou, and Ethan; and two on the way. She is also survived by her brothers, Harry Ashley of Ohio and Ern Ashley of North Carolina.

Pat was preceded in death by her parents; nine sisters; and three brothers.

A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 15, at Greater Victory Temple, 1620 Broadway Avenue, Seaside, CA 93955. Pat's favorite color was pink. If you wish, wear pinks in Pat's remembrance.

In lieu of flowers, Pat would have preferred donations to Animal Health Center, 1261 S. Main Street, Salinas, Calif., or Animals Friends Rescue, 560 Lighthouse Avenue, Pacific Grove, Calif.
