Ilene W. Wager, 79 - Big Springs

Ilene W. Wager, 79, of Big Springs, West Virginia, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, went home to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on November 23, 2010.

A daughter of the late Bernard and Clarice Wilson, she was born September 27, 1931 in Grantsville WV.

Spending time with her family was Ilene's greatest joy. Other interests included reading, especially the Bible and historical novels, playing the piano, conducting genealogy research, gardening, singing, and crocheting. She also enjoyed her time spent at the Calhoun County Library and the Calhoun Senior Citizens Center.

Mrs Wager served several years as a home health-care nurse. She was a member of the History Book Club, and the Prosperity Baptist Church for 35 years where she served the church in many ways including as pianist, Sunday School teacher and Vacation Bible School teacher.

Surviving are her four children, Wayne Wager and his wife Ida of Creston WV, Marlin Wager of Big Springs, Gary Wager and his wife Beckey of Grantsville WV, and Carmen Wager-Heil and her husband Jack of Wheeling WV; ten grandchildren, Justin (Raquel) Wager, Dexter (Stacy) Wager, Amanda (Jason) Tingler, Cynthia (Tony) Bailey, Lisa (Greg) Myers, Angela Wager, Sabrina (Sean) Whytsell, Gary Lee (Amber) Wager, Jacqueline Heil and Corrine Heil; 15 great grandchildren, Bethany Wager, Ryan Wager, Tyler Wager, Dylan Wager, Cole Wager, Flora Tingler, Sophia Tingler, Aiden Bailey, Conner Bailey, Liem Bailey, Caitlyn Wager, Brooke Myers, Xavier Oakley, Destiny Wager, and Lacy Whytsell.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Dean Wager; brother, Burley Wilson; sister, Mavadean Wilson; two daughters-in-law, Renita Wager and Patricia Wager; and grandson, Chad Michael Wager.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 26 at the Prosperity Baptist Church at Big Springs. Rev. Carroll McCauley and Rev. Alfred Hickman will officiate. Interment will be in the Saunders Cemetery. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the services.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Calhoun County Library.
