RITCHIE COUNTY'S BEASON NEWS

Welcome back to Beason. The land with no bucks during deer season. Why is it when one is driving, all the deer come towards the car? But, if one sits in a tree stand all day, none show up. I never quite understood where they all disappear to. One can put on all the nasty scents on possible, but, still no bucks are fooled.

I have a comment about an event that occurred at a school this week. This issue really bothers me and I have a right to express my feelings. I have a real problem with violence amongst anyone. I have a bigger problem when violence occurs at school. I'm wondering where all the staff were when this event happened? Where was our person in uniform? I want to know what's going on at home for kids to act like this. The more and more I find out about this, the more disturbed I get.

I have been doing some investigating and found that kids are writing really awful things on social networking pages that influence these kinds of actions. When is this going to end? Is it going to be over when we have to deal with a Columbine situation? I think the county needs to come together and figure out how we can stop this. Please know I am not singling Ritchie County out. I know it is a nationwide problem. We can't solve everybody's problems. But, we can be an example of how to solve it. Please remember that this is my opinion and I do not apologize for it and nor will I retract it. I am just hoping we can put our kids back in the right direction.

I'm really looking forward to Thanksgiving. Both my brothers will be coming home as well as my sister. It's been a long time since we've all been together at my Mom's. We are spread all over the place, so it is difficult for us to make one group visit. I miss those times when we spent every holiday together. But, work and kids tend to keep a family busy all the time. So, I am thankful for times we do get to spend together.

I hope all the hunters are using caution and staying safe this season. I know everyone wants the 'big one.' But, I am sure they prefer to be alive to see their prize. I wish everyone good luck chasing those practically non existent bucks.

Are you doing the infamous holiday tradition of Black Friday? I don't think I am. I don't like being up early in the morning. Anyone who knows me can testify that I am the biggest crab before noon. I love to shop, but, not at 6 a.m. I am sure store employees and other shoppers will be falling to their knees thanking God that I did not come out to shop too. Although, if I am hateful enough perhaps they would give me all their great bargains just to shut me up? Oh wait, it is almost humanly impossible to shut me up. So, I guess that won't work. Darn it.

Avery has managed to get bronchitis; it has been very hard on him to not be able to do things. He wasn't able to attend the Taylor Thanksgiving dinner as well as miss out on some hunting time. The doctor gave him steroids to help clear this up. Picture Avery on steroids. He is wild enough and to add steroids to the equation makes for a crazy mother. It has been a very energetic couple of days to say the least.

As we are approaching Thanksgiving we need to remind ourselves of all the things we should be grateful for. We should be thankful for all those people who put their lives on the line everyday to fight for what our country stands for. We should be thankful for our friends and family who are constant support systems. We should be thankful that we have a job and a home to live in. We are incredibly fortunate people.

I would like to end my article with a quote. "As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them." John F. Kennedy.
