Roland "Bud" Atkinson, 70 - Florida, formerly of Seth

Roland "Bud" Atkinson, 70, of Ft. Myers, Fla., formerly of Seth, W.Va., left this world on November 10, 2010, at Hope Hospice in Cape Coral, Fla. Bud gave his life to the Lord, witnessing to all who would listen.

Bud was born at Richardson, Calhoun County, W.Va. December 23, 1939. He was preceded in death by parents, Archie and Mildred Atkinson and brother, Herb Atkinson.

He was a 1957 graduate of Hamlin High School, veteran of the U.S. Army and retired from United Airlines with 39 years of service.

Bud is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Emma Patchell Atkinson; son, Steve (Lea) Atkinson of Goodyear, Ariz.; daughter, Cathi (Pat) Campbell of Merritt Island, Fla.; brother, Doug (Alice) Atkinson of Charleston, W.Va.; sister Kit (Bill) Shaffer of Elkview, W.Va.

He was known as "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren, Tim, Matthew, Ashley, Jordan and Ellea; great grandchild Hailey. He also left behind many loved ones and friends.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 19, 2010, at Mt. Olivet Baptist Church, Charleston (across from K-Mart in Kanawha City) at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tom Hughey officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to American Cancer Research, 301 RHL Blvd., Suite 6, Charleston, WV 25309. (Please specify for Lung Cancer Research).
