Cleoda M. (Belt) Smith, 87 - Mineral Wells

Cleoda M. (Belt) Smith, 87, of Mineral Wells, West Virginia, passed from this earth on Nov. 13, 2010, at Ohio Valley Health Care.

Cleoda was born Oct. 19, 1923, in Calhoun County, W.Va., a daughter of the late Stella M. McIntire and Cecil J. Belt.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and she was a member of Sarepta Baptist Church. The love of her life, Raymond "Dale" Smith, preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2007, 42 days shy of their 60th wedding anniversary.

She is survived by two children, Shirlee A. Berry and David of Carrollton, Ohio, and Steven D. Smith and Mirtala of Vincent, Ohio; three grandsons, Rodney Smith and Kandace and Chris Smith and Carrie, all of Mineral Wells, and Jason Berry of Orange Park, Fla.; three granddaughters, Mellissa Clark and Jimmy of East Sparta, Ohio, Maria Smith of Oakland Park, Fla., and Janeth Johnson and Darren of Dunbar, W.Va.; great-grandchildren, Jared, Caleb, Kali MaeAnn, Jaelynn, Jack, Joshua, Brittany, Rashelle, Aaron, Nick and Alondra; one great-great-grandchild, Landon; two brothers, Kenneth and Mitchell Belt; and three sisters, Juanita "Ada" McPeek, Pauline May and Barbara Holbert.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two infant brothers, Darius and Chester; brothers, Virgil and Robert; and one infant sister, Freda.

Services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Clyde Border officiating, assisted by her brother-in-law, Pastor Harold Eaton, and her nephew, Pastor Keith Belt. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
