Doyle E. Carpenter, 83 - Parkersburg

Doyle E. Carpenter, 83, of Parkersburg, passed away at his residence on Nov. 12, 2010.

He was born May 20, 1927, in Calhoun County, W.Va., a son of the late James Rufus Carpenter and Hattie Gay Starcher Carpenter.

Doyle was a retired concrete finisher with Parkersburg Union Local 2307. He enjoyed golfing. Not only was he a wonderful grandfather to his own grandchildren, but he was also known as the neighborhood grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janieve Mae Greathouse Carpenter, they were married for 63 wonderful years. He is also survived by his daughter, Mary Lucas (Bill) of Cocoa, Fla.; son, Edker Carpenter (Dorothy) of Belpre; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Pike Street, south Parkersburg, with Pastor Samuel Kinnaman officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, Parkersburg. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday.
