BOSWELL RELEASED FROM CHARLESTON HOSPITAL AFTER GUNSHOT TO HEAD

(11/13/2010)
A spokesperson at Charleston Area Medical Center says Joshua Boswell, 19, of Orma, has been released from that facility, after reportedly undergoing surgery for the removal of a small caliber bullet lodged in his brain.

Boswell told State Police he was shot in the head by a hooded figure after he opened his door during early morning hours, November 4th.

The incident happened at his residence about five miles south of Arnoldsburg between Orma and Minnora.

Sgt. O. S. Starsick said Trooper J.E. Kincaid is investigating the incident.

After calling 911 for help, Boswell was taken by private vehicle to Speedy Mart near Arnoldsburg after which an ambulance took him to Roane General Hospital.

Spencer Newspapers reported that Connie Lane, manager of Speedy Mart said, "He was all over the store while he was in here...He even told the girl who was working who shot him."

Lane, who was not working at the time, said there was at least one other customer in the store at the time. She said Boswell held paper towels under his chin to catch the blood coming from the gunshot wound, reported the Roane County Reporter/Times Record.

"It's not unusual for Calhoun County," she said. "We see just about everything over here."

Starsick said he spoke with a person at the residence who said they did not hear a vehicle arrive or leave around the time of the shooting.
