The Calhoun County Lady Red Devil Volleyball team has qualified for the state volleyball tournament for only the second time in school history.

The other visit to the state tournament was in 2006.

Calhoun will play Wirt in their opening round of the state tournament today at 1:30 p.m. at the Charleston Civic Center. Ticket prices are $8.00 adult and $7.00 student and may be purchased at the civic center.

The 2010 Lady Red Devils sporting a 34-16 record made school history this past week by winning the first ever Sectional and Regional Championships for Calhoun County High School Volleyball in the Region II Class A tournament.

The team is asking fans to show their support for the Lady Red Devils on Friday. The team will leave the school at approximately 8:30 a.m. on a charter bus compliments of the CHS Athletic Boosters and travel to Pleasant Hill School, town of Grantsville and Arnoldsburg Elementary before heading out to Charleston. The team would love to see signs of support along their route.

The CHS athletic boosters are selling Regional Champion/State Tournament volleyball t-shirts. The cost is $8.00 for short sleeve and $15 for long sleeve. Orders may be emailed to khouchin14@aol.com
