SIMERS RACES IN BRISTOL DRAGWAY 'PINKS ALL OUT' COMPETITION

Calhoun's Burl Simers along with Dave Wood and Randy Yoak traveled to Bristol, Tennessee October 1st and 2nd for an opportunity to appear on Pinks All Out, an hour-long program currently airing on Thursday nights at 8 p.m. on the SpeedTV channel.

Pinks All Out, is part of the network's "Big Block Thursday" with 500,000 to 1,000,000 people watching the show each week.

In less than 10 minutes the available 400 slots were gone. Bristol Dragway officials were able to hold 100 entries to give racers through a lottery system.

Sixteen cars out of 500 are selected to appear on the syndicated TV show for a prize of $10,000.00. The sixteen racers that had the closest driving time are selected to participate in the final race.

Simers didn't make the final [16] cut, but said he had a wonderful time in the attempt. Click here to see a picture of Burl racing.

The drivers represented 23 states and Ontario, Canada. Drivers came to Bristol from as far away as Arizona, Texas, Minnesota, Massachusetts and Michigan.

Other Calhoun County fans included Dan and Shena Heiney and Mr. and Mrs. Arnie Banfield.
