Rev. Keith Belt filled his regular appointment at the Burning Springs M. E. Church and served Holy Communion. There will be no services on November 14th but the next Sunday there will be class for the younger set.

At long last the government decreed fast time came to an end so local residents can return to standard time. Also the temperature dropped and Sunday morning there was even some frozen ground.

There was a nice crowd on hand Sunday afternoon for the Creston area veteran's celebration. Speakers included State Veterans Rep Tom Courtney & W. Va. State Senator Donna Boley. Among other things she reported that some time after 11/11, the state would dedicate the new memorial down at the Mouth of the Elk to women veterans such as WAC, WAVE & other units in which women formerly or now serve.

After the formal program punch, coffee & snacks were served to those present. Sen. Boley also talked about the group in St. Marys that studies the constitution and explains how it is relevant to today's time and how to do with those in government & elsewhere who are opposed to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights & the Declaration of Independence.

Gary Steve Mowrey went on a rainbow cruise.

Calhoun County Commissioner Bob Weaver, Wirt County Commissioner Robert Lowe, along with his wife & daughter, Bill Lambey, Kandy Summers, Janet Gherke, Ray Nicholas, Naomi Toler, Alice Cottrell & Don Bollinger were among those attending to business in Creston over the weekend.

A number of local residents made a turn of apple butter on Saturday.

Denver McFarland was consulting his physician and did not get a good report.

Anna Yates went to Kuwait to be with her husband Adam who is there on an assignment.

The Big Eared One's Treasury Secretary, on advice of George Soros, the Hungarian billionaire, started big time monetizing of the national debt by "buying $1 billion of bonds" for "quantitative easing". Soros had said that the value of the dollar needed to be lowered which means that, within the near future, each present one dollar will be worth eighty cents. Soros, who made a living during WW II by turning his fellow Jews to the Nazis is a regular visitor at the White House & recently gave $1.8 million to NPR (government radio). This means that food prices and everything else will go up and go up quickly. Already the world price of crude oil rose above $87 (the local price is $80.75) and gasoline has jumped up to $3.10/gallon. The average price of Pennsylvania grade crude for October was $76.08/bbl.

The price of natural gas fell back again to the $3.30 range which is below the cost of production from stripper wells. It has been learned that some of the folks who are drilling the horizontal Marcellus shale wells are drilling and completing them but not putting them into the sales line but, instead, waiting until there are higher prices.

While nationwide the folks who were involved with the Tea Party cleaned up and tossed out those legislators who ignored the people, West Virginia stayed pretty much under the thumb of the ruling oligarchy that does not tolerate independent voices having a hand in the state's destiny. The powers that be convinced the ruled that the Big Boss who had hailed Obamacare and who had already had the legislature pass a model cap & trade bill that he would go to Washington and fight against the same policies. Most didn't notice that he was backed by Service Employees International Union [SEIU] that is the outfit in the purple shirts that provides the goons to beat up those with whom they disagree. Also SEIU has a very deep nexus with ACORN the folks that are famous for voter fraud and were involved in the housing bubble that burst causing the present malaise. The community agitator who now lives in the White House formerly worked for and with ACORN. Speaking of the big eared one, he went off on a trip to India & Indonesia (his boyhood home) with a retinue of 3000 people, forty airplanes and 35 battle ships and, according to the news reporters in Hindustan, a daily cost of $200 million. It was noted that not since the days of Cleopatra and the Pharaohs was there ever such a grand entrance to a foreign city or nation by a visiting monarch or government leader.

AARP the activist group that is supposed to be looking out for senior citizens said during the debate on Obamacare that it would cause insurance costs to go down which was the "official Obama line". Now AARP has announced that, because in part of Obamacare, the insurance for their employees will go up. Tens of thousands of AARP members dropped out because of the actions of the "unelected leadership" of the group. Just before the election several big time employers were given waivers since it would have been impossible for them to comply with the Obamacare rules. Of course the feds are using taxpayer dollars to run advertisements promoting the wonders of their new bill which will, of course, lead to socialized medicine which is what the big eared one said that he really wanted. (Of course later he said otherwise.)

For the first time in a long time there were problems with the election at the Burning Springs precinct as at least one person who always votes there was not on the list and at least two who did not early vote were marked as having already voted. At least two of those voters just left in disgust.

There was quite a bit of helicopter traffic in the Creston area for unknown reasons.
