SPENCER JUVENILE ARRESTED IN JOYRIDING 'THEFTS' - Teen Connected To Stealing Five Calhoun Vehicles

(11/06/2010)
Spencer Police have arrested a Spencer teen after he attempted to steal a car last weekend. The teen was wanted in connection to the thefts of five vehicles in Calhoun a few weeks ago.

Those five vehicles were stolen in southern Calhoun in the Beech, Wolf Run and Chloe areas. They had been abandoned, and later returned to their owners, according to the State Police.

Sgt. O. S. Starsick said that the culprit appeared to be stealing the vehicles for joy rides, saying at the time, "We have a juvenile suspect."

Spencer Newspapers said that neighbors caught the juvenile while he was attempting to steal a car at Locust St. and Rt. 14, holding him down until Spencer police arrived.

Spencer patrolman John Westfall said the teen was heavily intoxicated and admitted to smoking oxycontin prior to the incident.

He is currently being held in a Wood County juvenile center.
